Maxine-Yasay Kemonogi 獸木野生
Born in Tokyo in 1960, Maxine-Yasay Kemonogi is the youngest of six half-siblings.
At the age of 14, he (non-binary) decided to become a graphic novelist in order to depict the lives of three characters who would later become the core of the PALM series. In pursuit of specialized training, he chose not to enroll high school, instead enrolling in the Manga Department of Chiyoda Design School in 1976 at the age of 15. There, he studied under Tetsuo Ogawa, a pioneer of modern Japanese manga.
In 1980, he married, but fled from his abusive husband in 1982 with his one-year-old son. he made his professional debut in the magazine Wings (Shinshokan) in 1983 and published the first volume of PALM in 1984.
From 1996 to 2000, he lived in Melbourne, Australia. By 2024, he had published 43 volumes of PALM, five volumes of The World, as well as several short stories, interview books, and illustrated works.
In 2014, he founded AID, a volunteer-based animal welfare community.
In 2022, he directed and produced her first independent feature film, AppleEye.
