Maxine-Yasay Kemonogi 獸木野生

Born in Tokyo in 1960. The youngest of six half-siblings.
At the age of 14, Kemonogi decided to become a graphic novelist in order to depict the lives of three characters that would later become the PALM series. In order to focus on specialized studies, she did not go to high school, but instead enrolled in the Manga Department of Chiyoda Design School (1976/Age15), where she studied under Tetsuo Ogawa, a pioneer of modern Japanese manga.

Married in 1980 and ran away from her abusive husband in 1982 with her one year old son. She made her debut in the magazine Wings (Shinsyokan) in 1983, published the first book in the PALM series in 1984.

Lived in Melbourne, Australia from 1996 to 2000. Published 5 volumes of The World by 2004, 43 volumes of PALM by 2024 and other short stories, interview books, and illustrated books.

2014 founded the animal welfare volunteer community AID. Directed / produced the independent feature film AppleEye in 2025.           JAPANESE
